Thank you for visiting DougsBackyard.com. DougsBackyard originated in the far northern section of St. Louis County, Missouri. But now, after a recent move, DougsBackyard is located in Southeastern Wisconsin.
I hope to continue to bring you the quality images that you have grown accustomed to over the past few years.
Outside of my family, I have two passions, gardening and photography. Fortunately the two are intertwined. I was landscaping my backyard to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. But being surrounded by open fields and wooded areas, lots of wildlife started to visit. It was during these visits that I decided to photograph these creatures for others to enjoy. Whether it be building their nests, feeding their young, hunting, eating, or just doing what they have to do to survive in their natural environment, I wanted to be able to share these moments with others who may not have the opportunity to observe them as I do.
Inside you will find examples of my photography, including butterflies, hummingbirds, deer, owls, eagles and more. The Bald Eagles make their year round home near Alton, Ill., not far from where my backyard was located. I was fortunate to have been able to photograph them in various stages of building their nest and raising their young.
Whether you stop by just for a visit to view my images, or to purchase prints for your own viewing pleasure, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed shooting them.
The Florida Waterfowl pictures were taken on Sanibel Island at J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Reserve.
If you are interested in purchasing any prints, please see the purchasing page for more information.
New images are added regularly, so stop by often.
Thank You,
Doug Bentlage
